Privacy Policy
Effective Date: December 2025
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Goldcoast Labs ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use the Web Clipper for NotebookLM Chrome extension ("the Extension"). The Extension performs all processing locally in your browser. We do not operate any servers, and we do not store or transmit your data to any system we control.
This Privacy Policy follows the transparency principles outlined in privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA. If future versions of the Extension introduce server-side features, we will update this policy accordingly.
Information the Extension Accesses
The Extension only accesses information required to perform its functions. All processing happens on your device, and no data is sent to us.
The Extension may access:
- Google Account Information
Your Google profile name, email, and avatar are read locally to let you switch between multiple Google accounts. - Active Tab Information
When you choose to clip content, the Extension reads the URL and title of the active tab to send that specific content to NotebookLM. This only happens when you explicitly trigger an action. - Notebook Preferences
Your selected Google account and last-used notebook are stored locally in Chrome extension storage to remember your preferences. - Authentication State
The Extension checks your Google authentication cookies to determine whether you are signed in. These checks happen locally in your browser. The Extension does not collect or store cookie contents.
We do not collect, store, or transmit any of this information to our own servers.
How the Extension Uses This Information
The Extension uses the accessed information strictly to:
- Clip content you choose to send to NotebookLM
- Let you switch Google accounts
- Remember your preferences
- Communicate with Google's NotebookLM service
No secondary uses. No analytics. No profiling.
Data Storage
The Extension does not store any data outside your browser.
- Chrome Storage (local or sync) stores basic preferences.
- In-memory caching holds temporary authentication data, which disappears when the browser is closed.
- Nothing is stored on our servers, because we do not have any.
All other data flows directly between the Extension and Google services as needed to perform the action you request.
Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, or transfer personal data to any third parties. The only data transmitted is content you explicitly clip, which goes directly to Google NotebookLM.
There are:
- No analytics
- No tracking scripts
- No advertising partners
- No data brokers
Third-Party Services
The Extension interacts only with Google NotebookLM. Your use of NotebookLM is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. The Extension relies on unofficial and undocumented APIs provided by Google.
Website Analytics
This website (not the Extension) uses PostHog for analytics to help us understand how visitors use the site and improve the experience.
Information collected includes:
- Pages visited and general navigation patterns
- Button clicks and interactions
- Device type and browser information
- Approximate location (country/region level)
This data is stored on PostHog's EU servers and is not used to personally identify you. You can learn more about PostHog's privacy practices at posthog.com/privacy.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including GDPR regions), you may have the following rights:
- Access
You can view and manage locally stored data via Chrome's extension settings. - Deletion
Uninstalling the Extension or clearing Chrome's extension data removes all stored preferences. - Portability
Your NotebookLM content lives entirely in your Google account. You can access, export, or delete it using Google's tools. - Control
You can disable or remove the Extension at any time.
Because we do not run servers or maintain accounts, we hold no personal data to fulfil access or deletion requests on our side.
Data Retention
- Preferences stored in Chrome are kept until removed by you.
- Temporary authentication data expires automatically.
- No server-side retention exists.
Children's Privacy
The Extension is not designed for children under 13. Use of the Extension requires a Google account, which is subject to Google's age requirements.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Updates will appear here with a new effective date.
